SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Portland sophomore Tyler Robertson has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week after leading the Pilots to wins over San Francisco and Loyola Marymount. The Melbourne, Australia native posted a remarkable 31-point, 11-rebound, 11-assist triple double in Saturday's 86-76 victory over the Lions and had 10 points in Portland's 69-68 road upset against the Dons.
Robertson joined current teammate Mike Meadows as the only players in program history to record a triple-double – Meadows did so earlier this season against Willamette University. He is also one of just 17 players in the nation this season with a triple-double.
Robertson's performance will go down as one of the best individual efforts in college basketball history. It marks the first 30-point triple-double by any Division I men's player in more than four years (h/t @coopertwatson). He also accomplished an unparalleled modern-day feat by logging a 30-point triple-double, making 5-plus threes without a miss (5-for-5) and drilling 10-plus free throws without a miss (10-for-10). No other Division I player in the last 25 years has accomplished all three of those feats in an entire career, let alone all in one game (h/t @StatsBySTATS).
Robertson was also instrumental in Portland's Tuesday road upset at San Francisco (69-68) with 10 points, five rebounds and two assists. He played all 40 minutes in both games and was a perfect 18-for-18 from the foul line for the week.
First-year head coach Shantay Legans has led the Pilots (13-12, 4-6 WCC) to the program's most overall wins since the 2014-15 Pilots won 17 games. Portland's .400 league win percentage is also the best since the 2009-10 squad finished at 7-7 (.500).
Portland was next scheduled to host the Santa Clara Broncos on Monday night, but Santa Clara canceled the game on Thursday for non-COVID related reasons. The Pilots will continue a four-game homestand on Tuesday at 5 p.m. with a non-conference matchup versus Bushnell University. The Pilots will then host San Diego on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Pepperdine on Saturday at 5 p.m. Tickets for all remaining home games are just $5 and available by visiting
