SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The Portland men's basketball team will enter the 2022 University Credit Union WCC Basketball Tournament as the No. 6 seed and earn an opening round bye. The Pilots will face the winner of No. 7 San Diego and No. 10 Pepperdine on Friday at 8 p.m. The tournament will once again be held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
The WCC determined the seedings for this year's tournament using the Ken Pomeroy Adjusted Winning Percentage Rankings. The rankings take into account factors such as strength of schedule and road vs. home within conference play only. The WCC switched to this method due to the high number of canceled conference game.
The Pilots finished the season 17-13 overall and 7-7 in WCC play in the first season under head coach Shantay Legans. Portland is guaranteed at least a .500 overall record for the first time since the 2014-15 season (17-16), while the Pilots seven league wins match the program's combined total from the previous five seasons. Portland also finished with a .500 or better WCC record for the first time since the 2010-11 squad finished 7-7.
Below are the seedings for all teams in the WCC Tournament.
