Pilots Suffer 3-Set Sweep Against Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Portland volleyball fell to the Oregon State Beavers in three sets (18-25, 22-25, 21-25) Saturday on the road at Gill Coliseum. The loss moved Portland to 5-4 on the season. The Pilots attack was paced by Jayde Harris, who finished with 20 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .415, and by Maui Robins, who had 10. Grace Zilbert continued to lead the Pilots defensively.

  • Grace Zilbert had a team-high one ace in the loss.
  • Jayde Harris had a match-high 20 kills for Portland.
  • Portland got a team-high 15 digs from Grace Zilbert.
  • Portland attackers were helped by a match-high 23 assists from Noelani Helm.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Pilots found themselves in an early hole, dropping a tough first set 25-18. Portland trailed by as many as eight points as Oregon State grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that was knotted up eight times before the Beavers took control.

SET 2 | Portland then dropped set two 25-22 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. Oregon State grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 before eventually taking the set. 

SET 3 | Portland couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Pilots came up short with a final score of 25-21. Portland trailed by as many as eight points as Oregon State grabbed the advantage for good at 7-6.
