PORTLAND, Ore. – Fresh off his WCC Offensive Player of the Week win, Portland Pilots winger Brandon Cambridge earned TopDrawerSoccer (TDS) Player of the Week recognition on Tuesday as well as making the TDS Team of the Week. Along with that, Cambridge was named to teh College Soccer News Team of the Week. This is the first time he's made either team.
The nod for Cambridge comes after a stellar week for the Vancouver, B.C. native. He scored three goals with one assist over two matches, which were wins over the Seton Hall Pirates and the UCLA Bruins. Cambridge notched two goals and an assist against the Pirates, becoming the first Pilot this season to earn a brace or better, and followed that up with a goal in a 2-0 shutout victory over the then No. 15/6 UCLA Bruins. His seven points accumulated over two games were the most of any WCC player, and no WCC player besides Portland's own Sebastian Nava has more than seven points total on the season.
Cambridge has four goals and two assists this year, giving him 10 points on the season. He leads the WCC in both points and goals and ranks 14
th and 12
th nationally. He is the fastest Pilot to four goals (five games) since Benji Michel in 2018.
The Pilots were recently ranked 19
th in the latest TopDrawerSoccer Top 25 poll and are 3-0-2 to start the season. Next up, they are hitting the road to take on the No. 6/23 Denver Pioneers in Colorado. The two teams play on Friday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
