PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Pilots remain unbeaten 10 games in, earning a 2-1 win over the Utah Valley Wolverines at Merlo Field. The win improves Portland's record to 6-0-4.
How it Happened
- Portland broke the scoreless tie when Elianna Wong scored her first goal of the season in the eighth minute.
- The Wolverines evened the game on a goal from Sydney Bushman in the 53rd minute.
- Portland went up 2-1 on MJ Roe's 66th-minute goal, her second of the season. Selma Licina assisted the goal.
Game Notes
- The Pilots are unbeaten through 10 games for the first time since 2010. One more game, and they will be unbeaten through 11 for the first time since 2005, their national championship season.
- Wong's goal was her first of the year, and it came in the first start of the season for her.
- Bre Norris matched both her season high and her career high for saves with eight.
- Licina's goal puts her in a tie with Cally Togiai for the team lead in assists with three.
- Both soccer programs at the University of Portland are undefeated. They are the only school in the nation with both their men's and women's teams still undefeated.
- The last time that both the men's team and the women's team were undefeated to this point -- with the men's team having played eight games and the women's team having played 10 games -- was 1995.
