PORTLAND, Ore. – For the first time this season, Sophia Mattice was named to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week. She is the first Pilot to earn the honor this year.
Mattice made the team after scoring a goal and adding two assists in Portland's dominant 4-0 win over the San Diego Toreros. Mattice assisted on the opening goal, scored the second and then assisted on the fourth and final goal to secure the win for Portland. She's the first Pilot this season to score a goal and earn multiple assists in a match this year.
The Pilots have been solid this season, going 9-2-2 through 13 matches this year. Their nine wins are the most through 13 games since 2013. They have allowed just four goals so far, the fewest they've allowed through 13 matches since 2008. Their shutout percentage ranks first in the nation (.769) and their goals-against average ranks second nationally (.308).
Next up, the Pilots are off to Malibu to take on the Pepperdine Waves. The two teams play on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 12 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
