SEATTLE, Wash. -- The Portland Pilots scorched the nets in their 89-61 victory over the Seattle U Redhawks, shooting 55.9% from the field and 51.9% from outside.
The Pilots (2-1) had two players score in double figures, led by Dyani Ananiev, who had 20 points and two steals. Maisie Burnham tacked on 17 points and four assists and Lucy Cochrane added nine points and three blocks.
The Portland offense was very productive from deep, pouring in 14 threes on 27 attempts. Ananiev was the most prolific shooter for the Pilots, draining six treys in the contest, the most by a Pilot in three seasons and the most by a Pilot true freshman since 2005.
Portland did a great job disrupting Seattle U shots in the contest, coming away with seven blocks. Cochrane's three rejections led the way individually for the Pilots. Portland also had 15 steals and forced 21 turnovers.
