RENO, Nev. – Freshman Tyler Harris scored 19 points and junior forward Vasilije Vucinic recorded a season high 17, but Portland dropped a 108-83 decision to Nevada Saturday night at the Lawlor Events Center.
The Pilots (3-2) had four players score in double figures, led by Harris, who was 7-for-10 from the field, made all four of his three-point attempts and collected a team-high seven rebounds. Juanse Gorosito found his shooting stroke and knocked down five three-pointers for 15 points, while Tyler Robertson added 13 points and seven assists.
Nevada was unstoppable on offense finishing the game shooting 61 percent overall, including 13-for-24 from three-point range.
How It Happened
Vucinic carried the Pilots in the first half with 13 points on 4 of 5 shooting. Gorosito got going from the perimeter and buried three straight three-pointers late in the half, but the Wolf Pack (4-0) shot 55 percent from the field and made eight three-pointers to take a 53-43 lead at the break.
Nevada kept widening its lead after intermission by shooting a remarkable 68 percent from the field, including 5 of 8 three-pointers, to pull away down the stretch.
Game Notes
» The Pilots shot well from three-point range, knocking down 12 of 27 long range attempts.
» Portland turned the ball over just nine times while dishing out 18 assists.
» Jarod Lucas erupted for a career-high 30 points to lead Nevada, while Kenan Blackshear added 14 points and 11 assists.
» Portland shot a season-high 44.4 percent from three-point range, while the 12 triples also marked the most of the year.
