SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Portland guard Tyler Harris earned West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week honors for the second consecutive week, the league office announced on Monday. Harris averaged 15.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in games against Tennessee State and Nevada last week.

The Hayward, Calif. native continued his efficient offensive ways by shooting 56 percent from the field, knocking down 5 of 7 three-pointers and 7 of 10 free throws.

Harris dropped 11 points, five rebounds, two blocked shots and three steals against Tennessee State. He then went for 19 points and seven rebounds at Nevada.

Through the first two weeks of the season, Harris ranks second in the WCC in rebounding (9.0) and fifth in scoring (17.8). Nationally, Harris is second among all freshmen in rebounds per game and eighth in scoring.

He has been one of the most efficient scorers in the nation, shooting 63 percent from the field, 65 percent from the three-point line and 83 percent at the foul line. His 78.7 true shooting percentage is 33rd nationally.

Portland returns to action on Saturday hosting the Willamette Bearcats at 5 p.m. before visiting crosstown rival Portland State next Tuesday at 7 p.m.
