SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Portland Pilots guard Dyani Ananiev has been named WCC Co-Freshman of the Week along with Mila Wawszkowicz from San Diego. This is the second time this season Ananiev has won the honor and the second week in a row.
Ananiev played the most minutes of any freshman for Portland last week, averaging 20.3 minutes per contest. She scored 13 points for the Pilots against the Cal Baptist Lancers on Nov. 22, marking the third straight game where she had crossed the double-digit threshold.
The Pilots finished their latest road trip 3-4 on the season. They currently lead the WCC in steals per game (12.6), turnovers forced (22.0), turnover margin (3.14, blocks per game (6.6) and bench points per game (23.6). Nationally, they are eighth in blocks per game, 18
th in steals per game and 27
th in turnovers forced per game.
Portland is back at the Chiles Center this week for a pair of games. They'll host the Oregon Ducks on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. and the Montana State Bobcats on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
