PORTLAND, Ore. – Tyler Robertson and Noah Jordan each recorded double-doubles to help lead the Portland men's basketball team past the Lewis & Clark Pioneers 89-72 at the Chiles Center Wednesday.
The double-doubles by Robertson, who had 14 points and 10 assists, and Jordan, who had 13 points and 12 rebounds, led the Pilots (2-0) in the contest. Freshman guard Tyler Harris added 20 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Vukasin Masic and Chris Austin also reached double figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
The Portland offense made hay from three-point land, knocking down 10 threes on 27 attempts. Harris hit four treys for the Pilots in the contest.
Portland did a great job disrupting Lewis & Clark shots in the contest, coming away with seven blocks. Jordan's four rejections led the way individually for the Pilots.
How It Happened
After jumping out to a 37-28 advantage, Portland went on a 7-0 run with 1:57 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Vukasin Masic, to increase its lead to 44-28, a score that would hold until halftime. Portland did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 26 of its 44 points close to the basket.
Portland kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Harris' three, to close the game for the 89-72 win.
