PORTLAND, Ore. – Air Force used a 19-2 run midway through the second half to pull away in an 80-58 victory over the Portland Pilots on Sunday afternoon at the Chiles Center. Chris Austin led three Pilots in double figures with 15 points.
Tyler Robertson added 14 points and five assists, while Vukasin Masic chipped in 11 points for the Pilots (5-4). Freshman Tyler Harris added nine points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots.
The Portland defense forced 13 Air Force turnovers, but the Pilots committed 18 turnovers which led to a 24-14 edge for the Falcons in points off takeaways.
How It Happened
After falling behind 30-19 early, Austin started an 11-3 run a layup and two free throws. His jumper in the paint late in the period pulled the Pilots within 37-33 at the half.
A three from Robertson and driving layup by Masic gave the Pilots a 38-37 lead out of intermission and the teams traded leads twice before the decisive run by the Falcons. Portland went scoreless for nearly five minutes before Alimamy Koroma converted at the rim to make it a 58-50 deficit with 6:49 remaining.
Air Force then drilled three consecutive three pointers to put the game out of reach.

» The Pilots dished out 14 assists and had seven steals.
» The Portland defense forced 13 turnovers, but the Pilots committed 18 and were outscored 24-14 off of turnovers.
» Chris Austin followed his season high of 17 points on Friday against Air Force with a team high 15 points.
» Portland got a game-high nine rebounds from Tyler Harris who entered the game averaging 9.0, the most in the nation among all freshmen.
» Air Force outscored the Pilots 44-24 in the paint.
» The Pilots shot 42 percent overall and were 7-of-24 from three-point range, while the Falcons shot 54 percent and 9 of 25 from long range.

The Pilots will now prepare for an extended road trip with six games away from Portland beginning with games at North Dakota State and North Dakota next week. The Pilots visit NDSU on Thursday at 5 p.m. (PT) and then UND on Saturday at 11 a.m. (PT).
