SEATTLE, Wash. -- Despite picking up 10 hits in the ballgame and out-hitting Washington, Portland was unable to push across more runs, falling to the Huskies 8-3 on Tuesday.
Zach Johnson (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Portland (16-8). Jacob Dobmeier was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two shutout innings without allowing a hit.
Evan Scavotto drove in the most runs for the Pilots, going 1-for-4 in the ballgame with two RBI's. Jake Holcroft also chipped in at 2-for-5 for Portland, Briley Knight finished 2-for-4 and Ty Saunders went 2-for-3.
How it Happened
The Huskies put up the first four runs of the game across the first two innings. The Pilots finally put a run on the board in the fourth inning when Ben Patacsil came across to score the lone run of the inning for Portland off a fielder's choice.
The Huskies expanded their lead to 6-1 before the Pilots offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fifth. Portland picked up a pair of runs in the frame, once again off a fielder's choice, which tightened the Huskies lead to 6-3. Unfortunately, the Pilots were unable to get any closer, as Washington added two runs off a home run from AJ Guerro to put the score at its 8-3 final.
