SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Briley Knight and Jake Holcroft each collected three RBI's to help power the Portland Pilots past the San Diego Toreros 8-7 on Friday.

The right-hander went five innings, giving up six runs, all of them earned, on eight hits, allowing two walks and striking out two. Jacob Dobmeier also made an impact on the mound for the Pilots, throwing four shutout innings while allowing one hit, with no walks and one strikeout, earning the save.
Holcroft went 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and a home run in addition to his three RBI's and Knight put together a 2-for-3 day with a home run and two walks, supplementing his three-RBI performance for the Pilots. Nich Klemp compiled a standout effort as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run, two walks and an RBI, and Henry Muench went 2-for-5 as well.
How it Happened
The Pilots got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Portland's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of Knight and an RBI double from Zach Toglia.
The Pilots lost the lead they built in the first by allowing five runs in the bottom frame, but got back on the board in the second. Holcroft's two-run homer brought the score to 6-5 in favor of the Pilots.
San Diego came back to even the ballgame at six before Portland reclaimed a 7-6 advantage in the third inning. The Pilots scored a run on Klemp's leadoff home run off Austin Smith.
Portland kept the Toreros without a run before their offense got back in action the next inning. The Pilots sent home a run on Holcroft's RBI double, bringing the Portland advantage to 8-6. San Diego put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Pilots still held on for the 8-7 win.
