CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The Portland Pilots racked up 20 hits to push past the No. 10 Oregon State Beavers 14-8 on Tuesday. It's the first win for the Pilots over the Beavers since 2021 and the first on the road since 2006.
Kaden Segel (3-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Portland (27-20). The right-hander went 2.1 shutout innings while giving up one hit. Ryan Rembisz also made an impact on the mound for the Pilots, throwing one shutout inning in the ninth while allowing no hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.
Christian Cooney had a career game for Portland with four hits, including a double, a home run and two RBI's to lead the Pilots. Evan Scavotto compiled a standout effort as well, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two walks and three RBI's. Jake Holcroft also helped out for Portland, putting together three hits in five trips to the plate while adding two doubles, a walk and four RBI's.
How it Happened
The Pilots scored in six different innings on the way to victory. They started scoring in the first inning with two runs off an RBI single from Briley Knight to take an early 2-0 lead.
The Beavers responded with two runs of their own before Portland retook the lead in the second. They scored three runs off Evan Scavotto's 10th home run of the season to take a 5-2 lead.
Portland added three more runs in the fourth, with two coming off a double from Holcroft and another coming on a walk. They scored two more runs in the sixth off a wild pitch and a Tyler Howard single to take a 10-3 lead.
Oregon State made the lead uncomfortable with three runs in the sixth, but the Pilots added four more insurance runs across the seventh and eighth innings to secure the victory.

» Cooney's four hits are the most for the outfielder in a single game. His four RBI's are also the most in a single game for the Pilot.
» Cooney is the fourth Pilot to have four hits in a game this season.
» The Pilots had three players put together games with multiple extra-base hits.
» Holcroft drove in four runs for Portland. Holcroft has now reached 40 RBI's on the year for the first time this year.
» With 73 hits on the year, Jake Holcroft set a career-high for hits in a season. It is also the fifth-most hits of any Pilot in a single season.
» Tyler Howard's three hits are a career high for the freshman catcher.
» Scavotto is the first Pilot to hit 10 home runs and 40 RBI's in a season since 2008.
» Briley Knight went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI's. He is the fifth Pilot in program history to reach 20 doubles in a single season.
