PORTLAND, Ore. -- Taina Kaauwai and Maui Robins each notched double-doubles to help lead the Portland volleyball team to a 3-2 win (25-22, 27-29, 25-20, 9-25, 17-15) against the CSU Northridge Matadors Friday at home at Chiles Center. The non-conference victory improved Portland's overall record to 4-4 on the season.
The Pilots were led by the double-doubles from Kaauwai, who had 11 kills and 10 blocks, and Robins, who had 21 kills and 13 digs. Elin Larsson added 13 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Elena Bullemer chipped in for with 12 digs to go with six blocks from Lucia Busso.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Pilots survived a furious CSU Northridge rally in the first set, holding on to win 25-22 after leading by seven points at 9-2 earlier in the set. Portland also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | Portland lost set two 29-27 to tie the match 1-1. The Pilots fell in a close second set, losing in a stanza that was tied nine times and had four lead changes.
SET 3 | Portland then got back on the winning track, emerging victorious in set three and taking a two sets to one lead in the match. The Pilots the set set three 25-20. Portland took the lead for good at 18-17 in a set that showcased two lead changes before the Pilots took over in the second half of the stanza. Portland's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four CSU Northridge attacks in the stanza.
SET 4 | Portland couldn't finish off a four-set win as the Matadors forced a fifth set with a 25-9 victory. The Pilots fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before falling in the set.
SET 5 | Portland and CSU Northridge went back and forth all game, trading set wins until the Pilots took set five 17-15 and the match. The Pilots took set five with the help of a strong showing on the attacking side. Portland put together a .304 attack percentage with 10 kills in the set win. After the lead changed hands three times, the Pilots took control for good at 16-15 and rode that advantage to victory.
