SAN FRANCISCO – Portland dropped a 96-69 road game to the San Francisco Dons Saturday in West Coast Conference basketball action a War Memorial at The Sobrato Center.
Vukasin Masic's 21 point effort led the Pilots (7-11, 1-2). Tyler Robertson and Juanse Gorosito joined Masic in double figures with 10 points apiecer. Bol Dengdit helped out with eight points and seven rebounds and Yuto Yamanouchi-Williams chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds.
How It Happened
After falling behind 11-3, Portland rode Masic for eight early points and then Gorosito's three-pointer and a Tyler Harris free throw capped a 9-0 run with 15:35 left in the first half to take a 12-11 lead. The Pilots then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 44-36.
The Dons (14-4, 3-0) came out firing after intermission and quickly extended the margin. Malik Thomas scored 13 of his game-high 26 points in the period, while Ndewedo Newbury drilled four second half threes en route to a 22-point night. Jonathan Mogbo helped USF own the boards with 18 points and 14 rebounds.
The Pilots were out-rebounded 53-30 and gave up a 44-20 edge in points in the paint.
