PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Pilots and LMU Lions battled to a 2-2 tie Saturday at Merlo Field, with both teams scoring in the final five minutes of an exciting, rainy match. Portland moved to 8-4-6 overall and 3-2-3 in WCC play after the draw.
Cally Togiai and Kayla Adams scored the goals for the Pilots. It's the sixth goal of the year for Togiai and the third for Adams. Bre Norris racked up eight saves as well for Portland in goal.
Tonight was also Senior Night for the Pilots, with the seniors being honored in a pregame ceremony. Togiai, Adams and Norris were all honored as well as Shay Adams, Keeley Dockter and Elianna Wong.
How it Happened
Portland started the scoring when Cally Togiai scored her sixth goal of the season in the ninth minute, assisted by Katana Norman and Keeley Dockter. Norman took the pass from Dockter and played it perfectly to Togiai, who knocked it in for the score.
The Lions responded to tie things up on a goal from Kylie Dobbs in the 54th minute, earning a penalty kick and capitalizing. LMU then broke the 1-1 draw on Dobbs' 85th-minute goal, assisted by Emma Gustad Myklebust.
The Pilots refused to go down there, though. Portland knotted things up at 2-2 with an 88th-minute goal from Kayla Adams, her third goal of the season. Norman took a throw in from Hailey Bagby and sent it right into the box. Adams rose above the back line and headed it into the back of the net for the equalizer.
