SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – For the third year in a row, Bre Norris was named to the WCC All-Academic First Team. 10 other Pilots earned honorable mention.
To qualify for the team, a WCC student-athlete must be at least a sophomore athletically and academically, hold a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better and must have participated in at least 50% of their team's contests. The All-Academic First Team usually comprises of 11 student-athletes who put on display their athletic and academic prowess, but this year's team has 12 student-athletes due to a tie in voting.
Norris becomes the first Pilot to make three WCC All-Academic teams since Danielle Foxhoven did so between 2009 and 2011. Norris was also the WCC Goalkeeper of the Year and led the WCC in save percentage (.823). She was second as well in goals-against average (.909) and total saves (79). Norris became Portland's all-time leader in saves earlier this season, sitting at 279 for her career.
The Pilots finished 9-5-6 overall this season, making it four years in a row they've posted a record with at least nine wins. This is the first time they've maintained a stretch with at least that many wins in a season since between 2010 and 2013. The Pilots finished seventh in the revamped WCC.
