KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two Portland Pilots Women's Soccer players were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region teams, with Katana Norman making the first team and Bre Norris the third team.
Norman makes an All-Region ream for the first time in her career. She is the third Pilot in the last three years to earn first team honors as well. Norman was one of just two Pilots to start every match for Portland. She was a dominant presence on the backline, guiding a defense that ranked second in the WCC in goals-against average this season (.850). She posted four assists on the year as well, a career high.
Norris earns her third All-Region honor as a Pilot, becoming the first Pilot to garner All-West Region recognition three times in her career since Sophie Schmidt in 2010. Norris was the WCC Goalkeeper of the Year for the second year in a row, leading the WCC in save percentage (.823) and ranking second in goals-against average (.909), total saves (79) and shutouts (seven). She is Portland's all-time career leader in saves with 279.
The Pilots finished 9-5-6 overall this season, making it four years in a row they've posted a record with at least nine wins. This is the first time they've maintained a stretch with at least that many wins in a season since between 2010 and 2013. The Pilots finished seventh in the revamped WCC.
