MALIBU, Calif. — The Pepperdine Waves drilled 15-of-24 three-pointers and cruised to a 91-70 win against the Portland Pilots Saturday night in WCC basketball action at Firestone Fieldhouse.
The Pilots (9-19, 3-10) had three players score in double figures, led by Tyler Robertson, who had 23 points and seven rebounds. Vukasin Masic added 17 points and three steals and Bol Dengdit helped out with 12 points.
Michael Ajayi paced the Waves (11-17, 4-9) with 26 points and eight rebounds.
How It Happened
The Waves came out hot, drilling 9-of-12 three-pointers and using a 14-0 run to go ahead 48-24 with 4:06 left in the first half. The Pilots closed the period with a 7-0 run capped by a Masic driving layup to cut the deficit to 52-36 at the break.
Masic scored the first four points of the second half to make it 52-40, but the Waves used a 15-2 run to push out to a 76-50 lead with under 12 minutes left and never looked back.

» Portland leading rebounder Tyler Harris was unavailable (ill).
» The Pilots shot 47 percent from the field, but allowed Pepperdine to shoot 62 percent overall.
» Vasilije Vucinic scored an efficient nine points off the bench for the Pilots going 3-for-3 from the field and free throw line in nine minutes.
» Ajayi drilled 5-of-6 three-pointers and Malik Moore went 5-for-9 from beyond the arc for the Waves.
