LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Tyler Robertson, Juan Sebastian Gorosito and Vukasin Masic combined to score 60 of Portland's 78 total points as the Pilots beat the LMU Lions 78-70 at the Orleans Arena Friday to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2024 Credit 1 WCC Basketball Championships.
The Pilots (12-20) had four players score in double figures, led by Robertson, who had 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Gorosito tacked on 19 points and two steals and Masic helped out with 19 as well. Bol Dengdit added 10 points along with eight rebounds, including five offensive rebounds.
How It Happened
After falling behind early, the Pilots started to light it up from 3-point range, going on a 9-0 run with 14:05 left in the first half to take a 17-13 lead. LMU, however, fought back and retook the lead late in the half, holding a 37-32 lead at the intermission.
After halftime, Portland battled with the Lions before going on a 9-0 run, finished off by Robertson's jumper, to seize a 52-48 lead with 11:49 to go in the contest. The Pilots held the lead the rest of the way through, winning 78-70.
Game Notes
» The Pilots were lights out from 3-point range, knocking down 14-of-29 long-range attempts. This is the fourth time this year they've hit at least 14 shots from outside.
» Tyler Robertson, Juan Sebastian Gorosito, and Vukasin Masic combined to account for 77% of the Pilots points.
» Robertson led the Pilots with a game-high 22 points. This is the seventh time that Robertson has scored at least 20 points in a game this year.
» Robertson has scored at least 20 points the last three times he's played in the WCC Tournament. He's averaged 21 points over five career WCC Tournament games.
» This is the first time the Pilots have won at least one tournament game three seasons in a row.
» Portland got eight rebounds from both Bol Dengdit and Tyler Robertson.
