SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Portland men's tennis senior Oscar Brown was named to the 2024 WCC Men's Tennis All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Tuesday.
To qualify for the 12-player WCC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team and in at least their second year at their school.
Brown has a 3.79 cumulative grade point average while majoring in philosophy. He racked up a 12-13 overall singles record, 8-8 in dual matches and 3-3 against WCC opponents at the No. 1 singles spot. Brown also has a dual doubles record of 10-4 overall and 4-0 in WCC matches with partner Stefan Skobelev.
Portland senior Nikolas Tvedt garnered honorable mention academic recognition as well.
The Pilots qualified for the 2024 WCC Tournament and will face the Pacific Tigers in Thursday's opening round at 10 a.m. The event will be held at the Aztec Tennis Center on the San Diego State University campus.
