SANTA MONICA, Calif. – The Portland Pilots saw their season end on the opening day of the 2024 WCC Tournament on Thursday, dropping their contest against the Saint Mary's Gaels 5-0 before beating the Pacific Tigers 3-1 and losing to the San Francisco Dons 4-1. Despite the loss, the Pilots still finish with a program-record 11 wins on the year.
 
The Pilots started the day against the Gaels, dropping all five flights. Annika Stammberger and Sophie Lee pushed the Gaels in the 2s match to three sets while Kili Robins and Elena Bullemer did the same in the fourth flight. The Pilots were unable, however, to push through for a win, falling 5-0.
 
The second match against the Tigers saw much more success for Portland, as they earned a 3-1 win. Valerie Bruk and Jordan Bardouche earned the first point for the Pilots in the fifth flight 21-14 and 21-10, followed by Robins and Bullemer in the fourth flight 21-12 and 21-14. Maui Robins and Taylor Helle dominated in flight three to finish it off for the Pilots and keep them alive in the tournament.
 
The final match saw the Pilots fall 4-1 to the Dons. The Pilots earned their lone win in the 1s match, with Leonie Freytag and Elin Larsson taking it in three sets 21-18, 16-21 and 15-10. The loss ended their season.
