PORTLAND, Ore. -- Sam Stuhr dominated on Sunday, punching out 13 Pacific hitters over seven innings of work to help power the Portland Pilots over the Tigers 4-2. The win keeps the Pilots perfect in WCC play, gives them their 20th win on the year and makes it 10 wins in their last 11 games.
In addition to his 13 strikeouts, Stuhr went seven innings, giving up one run on four hits and walking two for Portland (20-9, 6-0). Tanner Douglas officially earned the win, going two innings with one run and two hits allowed as well as three strikeouts.
Offensively, the Pilots were led by Ben Patacsil, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a walk and an RBI. Jack Thomson compiled a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Spencer Scott also chipped in for Portland, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.
How it Happened
The Pilots put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the third inning. Portland got an RBI single from Scott, scoring Patacsil from second base.
The Pilots then held the Tigers scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Portland scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Thomson, which brought the Pilots' lead to 2-0.
Pacific clawed back to tie the ballgame at two before Portland reclaimed a 4-2 advantage in the eighth inning. The Pilots scored twice, scoring runs off RBI singles from Patacsil and Christian Cooney. The score remained 4-2 for the rest of the game, as Portland held on for the win.
