PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Pilots Women's Soccer coach Tina Frimpong Ellertson has been promoted to associate head coach ahead of the 2024 fall season, announced head coach Michelle French. She becomes the third associate head coach in program history.
Frimpong Ellertson joined the Pilots last season as an assistant coach. She helped guide the Pilots to a 10-4-3 record overall in 2023 for their best overall winning percentage since 2013 (.676). It was also the first time the Pilots have posted back-to-back seasons of at least 10 wins since that same year.
Prior to her time in Portland, Frimpong Ellertson spent three years as an assistant for her alma mater, the Washington Huskies. The Huskies went 26-18-11 during her time there, with five All-Pac-12 players and a 2020-21 All-American in Summer Yates. The Huskies were a tournament team in the 2020-21 season, making the Round of 16.
Frimpong Ellertson was also one of the top players the conference had ever seen, spending four years with the Huskies and earning Pac-10 Player of the Year honors twice (2003, 2004). She is the all-time leading scoring for the Huskies in both points (99) and goals (43) and was a Pac-12 Conference Hall of Fame inductee in 2022.
The 2024 season begins on the road for Portland. They take on the Cal Poly Mustangs on Thursday, Aug. 15 down in San Luis Obispo in California. Tickets for the 2024 season are live now, with season tickets, flex packs and single-game tickets available at
