SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Portland Pilots were picked to finish second in the annual WCC Preseason Coaches Poll ahead of the 2024 season. The Pilots also had Laura Pellicoro, Maebh Richarson and Fleur Templier make the All-WCC Preseason Team.
The preseason poll and the WCC preseason team were selected by a vote of the 11 program head coaches in the WCC. Coaches cannot vote for their own team or student-athletes.
Laura Pellicoro, Fleur Templier and Maebh Richardson all earned 2023 All-WCC first-team honors. At the 2023 WCC Cross Country Championships, Pellicoro finished second overall in a time of 20:52.7, leading the Pilots throughout the race. Templier ultimately finished third in a time of 21:05.3 to earn the honor of WCC Freshman of the Year while Maebh Richardson finished ninth in 21:54.7.
At the 2023 NCAA West Regional Championships, Pellicoro earned All-West Region honors for the second year in a row, finishing seventh overall, while Templier finished 19th with a PR of 20:01.8, earning the All-West Region honors as well. Richardson (54th) contributed to the sixth-place team finish with a 52-second PR in a time of 20:38.4 to finish as the Pilots' fourth scorer.
At the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championships, Pellicoro finished 41st in 20:06.8, just a tenth of a second away from finishing in the top 40 and earning All-American status.
The Pilot Women's cross country team won the 2023 WCC Cross Country Championships title with six Pilots earning All-WCC honors, tying the school record from 2007 and finished sixth in the 2023 NCAA West Regional Championships.
