SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - For the first time this season, Bre Norris was named WCC Defensive Player of the Week. This marks her first award of the 2024 season.
Norris earned the honor after totaling five saves for the Pilots over 13 total shots by the Seattle U Redhawks in a 1-1 draw. With the performance, Norris maintained her low goals allowed total with only five goals conceded through eight games. Â
The keeper from Boise is fundamental to the Pilot's success. She was awarded WCC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2023, making her the first Pilot to ever win Goalkeeper of the Year. Norris is ranked first in the conference for save percentage (.844), goals-against average (.650) and shutouts (3). She is competitive in the national rankings, placing 51st and 49th in save percentage and shutouts, respectively. In the preseason, she was named to the All-WCC Preseason Team and the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
The Pilots are currently 4-2-2, leading the conference in goal differential, goals against average and Penalty Kicks. Following the team's wins against Sacramento State (4-0) and Nebraska (1-0), Portland Pilot Cally Togiai was named WCC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9. Norris and the Pilots gear up to host the George Fox Bruins tonight at Merlo Field. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
