NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -- The Portland Pilots lost in five sets (24-26, 25-23, 25-17, 22-25, 11-15) to the CSUN Matadors on the road at Premier America Credit Union Arena. The non-conference loss dropped Portland to 7-2 on the season.Â
The Pilots were led by a double-double from Maui Robins, who registered 18 kills and 16 digs on the day. Lia Hawken also added a match-high 20 kills while Havannah Hoeft contributed 56 assists to help the attack. On the defensive end, Tinoa Woodward-Hart chipped in with a career-high 23 digs to go with five blocks from Hawken and Bray.Â

How It HappenedÂ
SET 1 | The Pilots came up short in a back-and-forth first set, losing 26-24 in a game that featured three lead changes and was tied 10 times. Neither team led by more than four points in the set.Â
SET 2 | Portland responded to pick up a 25-23 victory in set two, evening the match at one set apiece. The Pilots grabbed control of the set lead early on at 5-4 and held the lead the rest of the way. Portland led by as many as six points at 11-5 before closing out the set, totaling 17 kills.Â
SET 3 | Portland carried the momentum from their second-set win into the third, securing another victory to take a 2-1 lead in the match. The Pilots took control of the set early when the score was 5-4 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-17. Portland led by as many as eight points at 24-16 before closing out the set, collecting 15 kills.Â
SET 4 | Portland couldn't keep the momentum, as the Matadors forced a fifth set with a 25-22 fourth-set win. The Pilots fell behind early on and trailed to the end of the set. Â
SET 5 | The Pilots held an advantage in the match but came up short in the final two sets, with a close 15-11 defeat. The Pilots had a lead early in the set at 8-8 before CSU Northridge took over.Â
