PORTLAND, OR -- The Portland Pilots lost to the Oregon State Beavers 3-1 (14-25, 25-15, 13-25, 29-31) at home in the Chiles Center. The loss dropped Portland's record to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in WCC action.
The Pilots offense was paced by Elin Larsson, who finished with 11 kills on the day while accumulating 14.5 points. Maui Robins and Lucia Busso each chipped in with 11 as part of balanced Portland attack. Portland got a match-high 20 digs from Tinoa Woodward-Hart along with a match-high five blocks from Nevaeh Bray to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Pilots dropped a tough first set 25-14. Portland continued to trail as Oregon State grabbed the advantage for good early in a set that was tied once before the Beavers took control.
SET 2 | Portland responded to pick up a 25-15 victory in set two, evening the match at one set apiece. The Pilots led from the first point on in the set to earn the victory. Portland opened its biggest lead, 10 points, to finish off the set, collecting 17 kills with a .615 attack percentage. The Portland offense also got a boost from three aces in the set.
SET 3 | Portland fought hard in the third set, keeping it tied twice before Oregon State pulled ahead. The Pilots faced a tough 25-13 loss, falling behind 2-1 in the match.
SET 4 | Despite a strong offensive performance and holding eight match points, Portland fell 31-29 to conclude the match. Portland posted a .333 attack percentage with 21 kills, the highest total recorded by either team in a single set.
Portland will travel to Washington next to face Washington State and Gonzaga. The Pilots take on the Washington State Cougars on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m., then meet the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 12:00 p.m.
