SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Portland Pilots goalkeeper Bre Norris was named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday.
Norris takes the honor after a stellar performance against the Saint Mary's Gaels this past Saturday. With just 10 players available after a red card in the 32
nd minute, the Pilots powered their way to a 3-1 victory in large part due to Norris's performance. She collected a career-high 10 saves en route to the win, the most saves in a game by a Pilot since 2018. She's just the fourth player in the WCC this season to post that many saves in a match.
The Boise native is one of the top goalkeepers in the conference, currently leaving the WCC in save percentage (.860), ranking second in goals-against average (.722) and third in saves per game (4.30) and shutouts (three). Norris is 27
th as well in save percentage nationally. Her save total for her career now sits at 243, which is third all-time in program history. She was named an All-WCC Preseason Team selection at the start of the year and is also on the MAC Hermann Watch List.
The Pilots are 6-2-3 to start the year and 1-0 in WCC play after their conference-opening win on Saturday. Next up, they'll play the San Francisco Dons at the Hilltop on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
