INDEPENDENCE, Ore. — The Portland women's cross country team turned in a strong performance on Saturday at the Linfield George Oja Invitational, finishing second overall with 59 points. The Pilots trailed only Boise State (40) and held off Eastern Washington (89) in a highly competitive 31-team field.

Freshman Megan Crum led the Pilots with a personal-best 20:23.20, placing second overall. She has now led Portland in consecutive races, continuing her strong debut season. Selena Bangerter (10th, 21:06.50 PR) and Lindsey Kaines (15th, 21:24.10 PR) also ran personal records, giving Portland three runners in the top 15. Rounding out the scoring five were Clare Herring (28th, 21:46.80 PR) and Danica Allen (32nd, 21:51.90 PR).
