SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Portland Pilots Women's Soccer goalkeeper Sophia Hills earned West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday for the first time this season. She's the first Pilot to win the weekly award in 2025.
Hills was stellar once again in goal for the Pilots, posting four saves in a 0-0 shutout draw against the Saint Mary's Gaels. It was the seventh shutout of the year for Hills, the most by a Pilot in their first year starting since 2021. Hills currently leads the conference in goals-against average and ranks 15
th nationally at 0.593. She is second in shutouts (7) and save percentage (0.843) in the conference and 29
th and 36
th respectively in the nation.
The Pilots are 6-3-5 on the year and 3-1-2 in WCC play, sitting in a tie for second in the conference. They'll play the Seattle U Redhawks on Wednesday, Oct. 22 for their next contest on the road, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
