PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Pilots women's soccer returns home this week for a pair of West Coast Conference matchups against the San Diego Toreros and the San Francisco Dons. They'll play the Toreros on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 5 p.m. and the Dons on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.

PEEK INTO THE PORT
- The Pilots are 5-2-4 overall and 2-0-1 in WCC play, most recently beating the Oregon State Beavers 1-0 on the road.
- The win extended Portland's unbeaten streak to six games (4-0-2).
- Mao Ito had the lone goal for the Pilots, her first of the year and first ever as a Pilot.
- The shutout was the fifth of the year for the Pilots and the fifth for goalkeeper Sophia Hills. The Pilots have only allowed more than one goal in just one game this season.
- The Pilots currently lead the WCC in goals-against average at 0.636, rankings 27th nationally. They are also second in save percentage (.821).
- Their seven goals allowed through 11 games marks the fourth season in a row they've allowed seven goals or fewer through that many games.
- Among goalkeepers, Hills leads the WCC in goals-against average (.571) and is fourth in save percentage (.838). Her five shutouts rank second in the WCC.
- Five different Pilots have scored this year: Hailey Still (3), Violet Rademacher (2), Hailey Bagby (2), Aliyah Dockter (1) and Mao Ito (1).
- The Pilots are coming off a season that saw them finish 9-5-6 overall and 4-3-3 in WCC play. They've won at least nine games each of the last four years, marking the first time the Pilots have put together at least nine wins a season for four straight seasons since a stretch between 2010 and 2013.
- Last season, they were second in the WCC in goal differential (19), goals-against average (0.850) and shutout percentage (.400) while leading the conference in save percentage (.828).
- The Pilots were picked to finish sixth in the annual West Coast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, with Keeley Dockter representing the Pilots on the All-WCC Preseason Team. This is Dockter's first time making it on the preseason squad.
- Jillian McBride is the lone returner for the Pilots to earn All-WCC honors last season, making the freshman team. She scored one goal and added two assists in her first year on The Bluff.
- The Pilots return 16 players from last year's squad while adding 11 newcomers.
- Among the key returners are forward Hailey Still and Hailey Bagby, who were second and third respectively on the team in total points. Still scored seven goals for 14 points while Bagby added four goals and four assists as a defender.
- Michelle French is in her eighth season as head coach of the Pilots. She's posted a 65-43-25 record overall and led the Pilots to their first postseason appearance in 2022 in nine years.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
- The San Diego Toreros are 3-1-6 on the season and 0-1-2 in WCC play, putting together their best start through eight games in program history before falling to the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Sept. 27 4-0. They most recently tied the Washington State Cougars 1-1 at home.
- Last season, they finished 3-11-5 overall and 1-7-2 in the conference to take 10th in the conference.
- This season they were picked to finish 10th in the conference, with no players making the All-WCC Preseason squad.
- Ella Callanan, a Portland native who went to Franklin HS, is their lone returning All-WCC performer from last season, having made the All-WCC Freshman Team. She's started all 10 matches for the Toreros, leading the team in assists with five.
- Greg LaPorte is in his second season in charge of the Toreros. He is 6-12-11 for his career.
- The San Francisco Dons, meanwhile, are 1-6-3 overall and 0-2-1 in WCC play, most recently falling 2-0 to Gonzaga.
- Last year, the Dons went 5-11-2 overall and 1-7-2 in WCC play, finishing tied for fifth with the Toreros.
- The Dons were picked to finish 11th in the WCC with no players making the All-WCC preseason team.
- Lindsey Chau is the lone Don to have garnered All-WCC recognition last year, earning honorable mention. She's played and started all 10 matches this season, scoring two goals.
- Pinder Nijjar, who is in his second season with the Dons, is 6-17-5 in his two seasons so far.
