EUGENE, Ore. – The Portland Pilots dropped their penultimate nonconference matchup against the Oregon Ducks on Thursday, falling 85-59. The loss puts Portland at 5-6 overall.
Lainey Spear led the Pilots with a season-high 15 points, her second straight game leading the Pilots in scoring and third time overall. Florence Dallow had nine points while Tiffany Barbosa added eight, just one point shy of her career high. Rhyan Mogel matched her career high with eight assists as well.
Defensively, the Pilots had 11 steals and six blocks, with Ananiev's four steals and Dalan's two blocks leading the way. Ananiev has posted multiple steals seven games this year while Dalan's had multiple blocks in nine contests. Ananiev has 31 steals while Dalan has 38 blocks for the year.
How it Happened
Portland struggled in the first quarter to find a rhythm, turning the ball over early. The Pilots had seven turnovers in the opening period and shot just 23.1% from the field, falling behind 19-7. It was more of the same in the second quarter, with the Ducks catching fire and the Pilots struggling to control the ball with nine turnovers. The Ducks led 44-19 at the half.
The Pilots finally got into a flow offensively in the third quarter, hitting their first three 3-pointers early and shooting 75% on their first eight shots. The Ducks eventually got it going again themselves for a 14-2 run towards the end of the third to make it 72-43 Oregon. The Ducks cruised the rest of the way for the win.

- This is the third time Spear has led the Pilots in scoring this year. Her 15 points are also a season high.
- Rhyan Mogel matched her career highs with eight assists and five rebounds.

- Ananiev's four steals led the way for Portland, making it seven games with multiple steals for the redshirt sophomore. Ananiev's got 31 steals on the year.
- Dalan has nine games with multiple blocks now this year with. She has 38 for the season, the most by a Pilot freshman since Rachel Warren in the 2005-06 season.
- The Portland bench made an impact, scoring 20 of Portland's 59 points.
