SPOKANE, Wash. – The Pilots had a successful MPSF Championships, with the men's team securing third place overall, finishing just three points behind Long Beach State's second-place finish. Pilot men earned 32 points in the 5000m event, 30 points in the mile, 26 points in the 3000m, 20 points in the 800m, 10 points in the distance medley relay, and three points in the 4x400m relay—bringing their total to 121 points.
"That was a great effort by our men. Our goal was to take 2nd as a team and we almost got that done. Long Beach State has a full program, one of the best teams in the Western US and it came down to the final event!", Head coach Rob Conner said. "This was the greatest track team performance in school history. I am very proud of how hard everyone competed."
Jonathan Carmin, Yutaka Roberts, Yuta Cole and Trey Gannon took first place in the men's distance medley relay, breaking school record with a time of 9:53.53. Mark Milner posted a No.5 time in school history in the 800m (1:51.11). On the women's side, Aria Cain continued to excel, setting a PR in the 200m with a time of 25.24, improved to No.2 all-time school record.
The Pilot men dominated the 3000m and 5000m, securing four of the top five spots. Jona Bodirsky (14:15.77) claimed the 3000m event title with Jonas Gertsen finished second in 14:15.80, while Peloquin and Stein secured fourth and fifth with times of 14:24.83 and 14:25.54, respectively. Strangio (8:17.63), Gertsen (8:17.67), Bordisky (8:17.92) and Gannon (8:18.31) were second, third, forth and fifth in the men's 3000m event, respectively.
In the women's 5000m, Juliette Forstrom led the way with a fourth-place finish at 16:34.24, followed by Mie Nielson, who crossed the line in 17:27.89.
In day 2 of the Championships, Pilot men swept top-4 finishes in the men's mile event. Jonas Price (4:03.23) named the mile's champion, with Milner, Ruiz and Strangio claimed second, third and forth place, respectively. In the women's mile event, Samantha Prusse secured third place, clocking in 4:48.22.
