PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Pilots fell short in their first home match of the season, battling 2-3 to the Southern Oregon Raiders.
Portland started strong with a win in the third flight. Taylor Helle and Elizabeth Ortiz were the 3s for Portland, winning 16-21, 21-12 and 15-4. The 5s, 1s and 4s were the next flights to finish, trading points the whole way but ultimately falling short. The Portland 2s pushed it to three sets in their flight, with Emily Wood and Annika Stammberger securing another win for the Pilots, scoring 21-16, 20-22, 15-10.
