LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Former Portland Pilots goalkeeper Bre Norris was signed by NWSL Side Angel City Football Club on Tuesday, signing a relief contract through June 30, 2025. Norris was a part of ACFC's preseason roster, joining as a trialist earlier this year.
"I am so grateful to be joining Angel City," Norris said via a press release from ACFC. "Starting this preseason as a trialist, I was welcomed into the best training environment and culture I have gotten to be a part of. I am looking forward to continuing learning from the team and this incredible goalkeeper group. I'm honored to call LA home and excited for what's to come!"
Norris is one of the most accomplished goalkeepers in Portland Pilots history. This past season, Norris was named the WCC Goalkeeper of the Year for the second season in a row, recording 79 saves with a league-leading .823 save percentage. She was second in the conference in total saves as well as goals-against average (.909) and shutouts (six). She was an All-WCC First Team selection as well as a United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Third Team pick.
Norris is the Pilots' all-time leader in total saves at 279 and is second all-time in career shutouts 36. Norris was an All-WCC team honoree each of her four years on The Bluff, winning WCC Goalkeeper of the Year twice and being named the All-WCC First Team twice, both times happening in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Norris is the first Pilot since 2010 as well to have made an All-Region team three times.
The Pilots have a proud history of sending players to the pros and their respective national teams. 27 different Pilots have gone on to play professionally with 12 getting the chance to play for their respective national teams. Notable alums include U.S. Women's National Team superstars Tiffany Milbrett, Shannon MacMillan and Megan Rapinoe as well as Canadian superstars Sophie Schmidt and Christine Sinclair. Current Pilots head coach Michelle French was a part of the USWNT system from 1994 to 2001, earning her first senior team call up in 1997.
The Pilots finished 9-5-6 overall this season, making it four years in a row they've posted a record with at least nine wins. This is the first time they've maintained a stretch with at least that many wins in a season since between 2010 and 2013. The Pilots finished seventh in the revamped WCC.
