PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland handled crosstown rival Portland State with a 7-0 sweep Saturday in non-conference men's tennis action at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center. The Pilots improve to 6-4, while the Vikings drop to 4-9 on the season.

Portland swept the doubles point in comfortable fashion. The Pilot No. 2 team of Nikola Keremedchiev and Cade Fernando cruised to a 6-2 defeat of Hubert Theriault and Hayden Elliott. The No. 1 tandem of Maxim Groysman and Stefan Skobelev then clinched a 6-3 win against Andrin Zuellig and Simon Kuszynski. Tom Garcia and Lucas Kimelman followed seconds later with a 6-2 win over Edoardo Cravanzola and Luca Prino.

The Pilots won all six singles matches in straight sets. Keremedchiev doubled the Portland lead with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 over Cravanzola. Skobelev followed with a 6-2, 7-6 victory against Theriault at No. 3 and Groysman provider the clincher in 6-4, 6-3 fashion versus Prino at No. 1.

The last wave of singles followed the same pattern with Tom Garcia cruising 6-1, 6-0 over Zuellig and Kimelman knocking off Elliott 6-1, 6-2. Fernando came back from a first set deficit to cap the scoring with a 7-6, 6-3 win against Kuszynski.

The Pilots will now shift to the West Coast Conference schedule beginning with a road match at Gonzaga on Sunday, March 23 at 10 a.m.
