VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Matt Strangio placed 10th in the 3,000-meter run Saturday at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 7:55.41 to conclude indoor season for the senior. His finish earned him Second Team All-American honors and marked a six-spot improvement from his previous NCAA Indoor 3,000m appearance, where he placed 16th. Strangio is the first Pilot on the men's side to receive this accolade since 2016.
In the regular season, Strangio recorded 7:40.09 in the 3,000-meter at Husky Classic. He claimed fourth at the event and is ranked 14th in the NCAA. Strangio holds three school records across the mile (3:55.53), 3000m (7:39.02), and 5000m (13.31.92).
With Strangio and Laura Pellicoro's performances at this year's championships, Portland has now had 17 all-time NCAA Indoor Qualifiers and 10 NCAA Indoor All-Americans.
The duo will now prepare the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field season.
