PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Pilots were beat 16-5 on Saturday by the LMU Lions, evening the series between the WCC squads. Carter Gaston (2-5) got the ball to start for Portland (10-17, 4-1) and took the loss. Offensively, the Pilots recorded just two hits, with Spencer Scott's 1-for-3 day with two RBI's leading the way. Tyler Howard extended his on-base streak to 20 games as well.
How it Happened
The Pilots got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Scott drove in two runs for Portland with a single. The Lions then rallied to score five runs and take a 5-2 lead before the Pilots got back on the board in the third. Doyle Kane's run-scoring single highlighted an inning where Portland scored twice, which brought the score to 5-4 in favor of the Lions.
LMU built their lead to 11-4 before Portland scored again. The Pilots scored on an error in the fourth and were unable to get any closer, as the Lions added five runs to their tally on the way to a 16-5 final.

» Portland went 2-for-6 (.333) with runners in scoring position.
» Portland pitchers faced 49 Loyola Marymount hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and 11 fly balls while striking out seven.
» The Pilots drew five walks from Loyola Marymount pitching.
» Scott led the Pilots at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI's.
» Tyler Howard extended his on-base streak to 20 games with a walk and a fielder's choice.
» This is the first loss for Portland in WCC play.
