How it Happened
Oregon State struck first with an RBI single from AJ Singer in the first inning, but the lead didn't last long. Portland struck back in the top of the second, with Zach Toglia hitting a moon shot over the left field wall for his 11th home run of the season. The Pilots and Beavs were tied at one early.
The Beavers added two runs in the fifth inning to take the lead back, but once again Portland evened things quickly. Riley McCarthy came through with a two-run single right up the middle in the top of the sixth to make it 3-3 halfway through the sixth.
The Pilots could not hold on the rest of the way. Oregon State scored twice in the seventh inning and the Pilots failed to get a runner on in the final two frames, leading to a 5-3 Oregon State victory.
