PORTLAND, Ore. – Duquesne transfer and Slovakian National Team member Matúš Hronský (Poruba, Slovakia) has signed a financial aid agreement and will join the Pilots for the 2025-26 season, head coach Shantay Legans announced. Hronský is the third Division I incoming transfer announced by the Pilots, joining
James O'Donnell and
Riley Parker.
Hronský (6-8, 205) played in 75 total games over the last three seasons for the Dukes. He started 11 games during the 2024-25 season and averaged 5.2 points and 1.9 rebounds per contest. Hronský drilled 36 three-pointers and converted 35 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc. He scored a career-high 16 points in a game at Dayton.
During his junior season Hronský and Duquesne won the Atlantic 10 Tournament and defeated BYU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. He scored six points in the team's NCAA second round loss to Illinois. He appeared in 24 games during the 2023-24 season with one start. Hronský appeared in 19 games during his true freshman season with the Dukes.
Hronský came to the United States at the age of 16 to pursue basketball while attending the high-profile Wasatch Academy in Utah. He represented Slovakia at the 2021 U20 European Championships where he averaged 15.8 points in five games. Hronský also played for Slovakia's Senior National Team at the 2021 World Cup where he scored eight points in four games.
Hronský is the latest addition to join returning lettermen Mikah Ballew, Kelson Gebbers and Jermaine Ballisager Webb and returning redshirts Carlin Briggs, NaVaughn Long and Preston Lee for the 2025-26 season.
