PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots couldn't get the bats going against the Santa Clara Broncos, falling 5-1 in the series finale. The Pilots still took the series against the Broncos.
Ryan Rembisz took the loss for Portland (20-24, 11-7 WCC). He went five innings with just two runs allowed on nine hits. Offensively, the Pilots mustered up just three hits. Tyler Howard, however, extended his on-base streak to 31 games, the longest by a Pilot since 1993.
How it Happened
Portland started the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the second inning. The Broncos went on to score five unanswered the rest of the way, including home runs in the fifth and ninth innings. The Pilots could not put together any runs in the final frame, falling 5-1.

» Portland pitchers faced 42 Santa Clara hitters in the game, allowing 13 ground balls and seven fly balls while striking out seven.
» The Pilots drew eight walks from Santa Clara pitching.
