PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots will play their final exhibition on Friday, Aug. 15, hosting the Washington Huskies at Merlo Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. There will be no live stream or live stats available, but tickets can be found at portlandpilots.com/tickets.
The Pilots finished last season 7-4-7 and 4-0-4 in WCC play. They went unbeaten in the final 10 games of the season, the longest streak on the West Coast. Four of Portland's wins came against top 35 RPI teams last year. The Pilots were recently picked to finish third in the annual West Coast Conference preseason poll and saw Joe Highfield and Efetobo Aror each make the preseason team. Highfield was the first Pilot to earn All-WCC First Team and Freshman Team honors in the same season since 2016 while Aror was the WCC Freshman of the Year in 2023.
The Huskies, meanwhile, went 8-6-7 overall and 4-3-3 in their first season in the Big Ten. They earned an at-large bid to the 2025 NCAA Tournament, advancing to the second round of the tournament after defeating the Seattle U Redhawks in the first round. The Pilots and Huskies faced off last year at Merlo Field, with Portland winning 2-1.
This is the final exhibition contest before the Pilots open the regular season against the Central Arkansas Bears. The regular season opener against UCA will take place on Friday, Aug. 22 here at Merlo Field. Kickoff is set 7 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for tickets, live stats and video options.
