EUGENE, Ore. – The Portland Pilots battled the Oregon Ducks in Eugene to a 0-0 draw on Sunday to open the 2025 regular season with a shutout.
The Pilots outshot the Ducks nine to eight in a defensive battle, putting two on frame. This is the second time in the last three seasons the Pilots have opened the season with a shutout and the fourth straight season opener where they've earned an unbeaten result.
How it Happened
The first half went scoreless for both sides, with the Pilots getting four shots off to the Ducks' five. Hailey Still's shot in the 25th minute was on frame but saved by the Ducks. Sophia Hills came up with two key saves in the half while the Portland defense kept the Ducks in check to keep it tied at 0-0.
Portland came out swinging in the second half, putting together four shots in the first 20 minutes, including an on-target attempt from Hailey Bagby. Neither team, however, would find a go-ahead goal, with the match ending 0-0.
