SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Portland Pilots midfielder Keeley Dockter was named to the All-WCC Preseason Team on Thursday, making the team for the first time in her career. The Pilots were picked to finish sixth in the West Coast Conference in the annual coaches preseason poll as well.
Dockter, a redshirt senior, has been a crucial part of the Pilots' midfield since playing her first season in 2022. Last season, she played in 18 games with 16 starts, notching an assist against LMU.
The Pilots were picked to finish sixth in an expanded West Coast Conference that adds the Seattle U Redhawks into the fold. The Santa Clara Broncos were picked to repeat as champions with 116 points and seven first-place votes, with the Pepperdine Waves right behind them at 115 points and five first-place votes. The Gonzaga Bulldogs, LMU Lions and Washington State Cougars were picked to finish third, fourth and fifth with 85, 84 and 79 points respectively. The Pilots were right behind that crew with 73 points.
The Saint Mary's Gaels were picked to finish seventh with 66 points followed by the Oregon State Beavers in eighth at 59 points. The Seattle U Redhawks earned 41 points in the preseason poll followed by the San Diego Toreros at 31 points. The San Francisco Dons and Pacific Tigers were picked to finish 11
th and 12
th in the conference at 29 and 14 points respectively.
Portland finished 9-5-6 overall last year, marking the fourth year in a row they've finished with at least nine wins on the year. It's the first time they've hit that mark for four straight seasons since a stretch between 2010 and 2013.
Portland will play the British Columbia Thunderbirds in an exhibition match at Merlo Field on Friday, Aug. 8 at 2 p.m., with tickets available now at PortlandPilots.com/Tickets.
