PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots opened West Coast Conference play in convincing fashion, sweeping the Pacific Tigers in three sets (25-20, 25-22, 27-25) Thursday night at the Chiles Center. The victory lifts the Pilots to 6-6 overall and 1-0 in WCC action, marking their first win over Pacific since 2022 and their first sweep of the Tigers since 2018.
Maui Robins paced Portland with a double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs, while Elin Larsson added a match-high 14 kills. On defense, Tinoa Woodward-Hart anchored the back row with 16 digs, and Taina Kaauwai contributed four blocks at the net. Jeryn Hildenbrand closed out the match with a service ace, her second of the season following her ace against CSUN

How It Happened
Set 1 | The Pilots set the tone early, scoring the first point and never trailing on the way to a 25-20 win. Portland's front line blocked four Tiger attacks, helping the team build an 11-5 lead and control the frame.
Set 2 | Pacific battled back in a tighter second set, but the Pilots seized the lead for good at 22-21 and closed it out 25-22. Three service aces fueled the attack, putting Portland one set away from the sweep.
Set 3 | Portland then ended the match with a victory in set number three. Strong serving helped the Pilots win the set 27-25. Portland notched six aces in the win. The Pilots rallied from down five at 11-6 to grab the win. The Portland offense also got a boost from six aces in the set.
