SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Joel Foxwell continues to cement his place as one of the top freshmen in the conference, earning West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week honors for the fourth time this year.
This is the 14
th time since the 2023-24 season the Pilots have garnered freshman of the week honors. They've won the honor now close to once out of every three opportunities.
Foxwell takes home the honor after averaging 16.3 points and nine assists across three games for the Pilots. Foxwell crossed the 20-point threshold twice, scoring 20 points against both the Santa Clara Broncos and the San Francisco Dons. Foxwell had 20 points and 15 assists against the Broncos, with his 15 dimes matching a career high as well as the program record for assists in a game set by Tyler Robertson back in 2022. Foxwell's the only player in the NCAA to have multiple games of 15 assists or more and the one of two players to have a game with at least 20 points and 15 assists.
Foxwell has shined in his first year on The Bluff, averaging a team-high 13.7 points and 7.4 assists. He leads the conference in total assists (125) and assists per game (7.4) and ranks third and seventh nationally in the two categories respectively. He leads all freshman nationally in both assists and assists per game as well. He's got three double-doubles and has scored over 20 points five times this year.
The Pilots are back home for a pair of contests against the Pacific Tigers and the Oregon State Beavers. They'll host the Tigers on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. and the Beavers on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 5 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on KUNP as well as ESPN+.
