PORTLAND, Ore. – It was a highly successful fall on the field and in the classroom for University of Portland Athletics, who rank among the top teams in the nation and the West Coast after a record-breaking year across the board.
In the 2025-26 Learfield Directors' Cup Division I Fall Standings, University of Portland is tied for 50
th nationally with the University of Texas and Florida State University. This is the third time in the last five years that the Pilots have ranked among the top 50 nationally. In addition, the Pilots ranked first in the West Coast Conference and second among all NCAA Division I-AAA schools (institutions that do not sponsor football) in the end of the year Directors' Cup standings.
The Pilots also succeeded across the board in WCC play with men's soccer, women's soccer and men's cross country all finishing second in conference competition. The Pilots' other two fall programs – women's cross country and volleyball – also finished in the top half of the WCC standings.
In the classroom, Portland student athletes compiled an impressive 3.50 cumulative GPA with a Department record 54 student athletes recording 4.0 semester GPA's and another Department record of 56% student athletes earning Dean's List recognition. Two programs – men's tennis (3.62) and men's cross country (3.60) - recorded their highest single semester GPA's in program history. The semester was also a notable one as UP had a record number of student athletes - 313 - across its 16 varsity rosters.
Here's a sport-by-sport breakdown of Pilot fall success in fall of 2025:
- Men's soccer put together one of the best seasons in program history, finishing 14-2-4 for their best winning percentage (.800) since the 1988 season. In the regular season, they were 13-1-3 and a perfect 11-0-0 at home, the only team to finish the regular season with 11 home wins and no losses. They put together an unbeaten streak of 23 games that dated back to last season, the second longest streak in the nation and the longest such streak in program history. Their prodigious run propelled men's soccer to the top of the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, their first ever #1 ranking in the coaches' poll and first in any poll since 1992. A top 10 team for 10 straight weeks, the Pilots qualified for the NCAA Tournament as the No. 8 seed overall, marking the third time in program history they've done so and the second time in three years. They advanced all the way to the Elite Eight and hosted the quarterfinals matchup for the first time in program history. Nine players went on to earn All-WCC honors – including WCC Midfielder of the Year honors for Diego Rosas – while four players earned United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Honors, the most of any team in the West.
- Women's soccer followed close behind, putting themselves firmly in the race for a WCC title this season. They finished second in the WCC after posting a 10-3-6 record overall and a 7-1-3 record in WCC play, their third season of 10-plus wins in four years. Going undefeated on the road, women's soccer took second in the WCC for their highest finish since 2013 and their highest win total against conference opponents since that same season. Numerous Pilots earned postseason honors, with five Pilots earning All-WCC and four making the All-West Region team. Keeley Dockter also became the first Pilot to win WCC Defender of the Year since Amanda Frisbie in 2013. Portland's four All-West Region selections marks the third time since 2013 they've had at least four players make the team. Violet Rademacher became the first Pilot since 2009 to earn Scholar All-American honors from the United Soccer Coaches Association.
- Volleyball finished in the top half of the conference for the first time since 2016, putting together their best record under head coach Megan Burton. Portland's win total overall was their highest since 2018 and their nine wins in WCC play were the second most in program history and most since 2016. Volleyball had five players earn All-WCC honors and two players – Maui Robins and Havannah Hoeft – earn All-WCC First Team honors.
- At the WCC Cross Country Championship, the men's team took second overall and had three runners make the All-WCC First Team while the women's team took fifth with freshman Megan Crum making the second team. Crum preceded to have a standout performance at the NCAA West Regional in Sacramento, running a personal best time of 21:16.6 to lead the way for Portland. At the regional, the men took fifth overall with Jonas Price and KG Monyebodi taking home all-region honors. Price's fifth place finish was good enough to push him through to nationals as an individual qualifier, becoming the 23rd runner since 2001 to represent the men's team on the national stage. He took 65th overall for a personal best time of 29:21.1 at Gans Creek in Columbia, Mo.
